Put Yourself on the Map: A Community Display
After its unveiling at the July 4th parade, come and see our giant 2009 recreation of the 1982 Friends of the Library Road & Street Map, now on display in our Great Room! Created in 2009 to celebrate the Centennial of the Burnham Plan of Chicago by resident and long-time Friends Board Member Kim Keldermans, this large-scale map invites the entire community to take part in an interactive celebration of Riverside.
Throughout the month, we welcome residents of all ages to add their own piece of Riverside to the map. Build a miniature version of your home, a favorite local business, or even a tiny car! Use any material you like—paper, LEGO, wood, clay, or more(just no food). Since the map is laid flat on tables, 3D structures are encouraged, but please keep creations within a 4"x4" footprint. Limit one space per household.
Join us in transforming this historical map into a vibrant, community-built masterpiece!
If you are participating in button club, don't forget to pick up your button once you add your miniature.
