Lyric Opera Presents -- "'Turandot' at the Forbidden City" In-Person
China had banned the opera Turandot, because they thought it made Chinese people seem stupid. Because they were hosting the 1998 Olympic Games they allowed it to be performed at the Forbidden City. Zubin Mehta was the conductor and tickets ran $1,800.00 per seat and every performance was sold out.
