Lyric Opera of Riverside presents "Cinderella (La Cenerentola)" – opera by Gioacchino Rossini In-Person

1981 performance from Milan’s La Scala Opera. Sung in Italian with English subtitles. Running time:    2 hours 32 minutes

A different version of the familiar story sung with the matchless versatility of the bel canto opera style. In this tale the wicked stepmother is replaced by a stepfather and the fairy godmother is, instead a man, Alidoro, who is a philosopher and tutor to the prince. A bracelet substitutes for the famous glass slipper, but of course everybody knows the rest of the story.

This same production will be re-created at Lyric Opera of Chicago this season and performed from January 21 through February 10.
